Antique French Terracotta Cheese Mold
Antique French Terracotta Cheese Mold

Beautiful antique French terracotta cheese molds, traditionally used for draining and forming fresh cheese. Each mold features a rustic unglazed terracotta exterior with a warm glazed interior and drainage holes around the sides.
Years of age and use have given these pieces wonderful surface variation, mineral deposits, discoloration and earthy patina. The contrast between the weathered matte exterior and warm ochre-toned glazed interior is especially beautiful.
Originally practical pieces of French cheesemaking equipment, these molds are now wonderful decorative objects for a French country kitchen. Display them stacked with antique pottery and woodenware, use them as rustic cachepots for dried botanicals, or simply enjoy their sculptural, timeworn character.
The two molds are sold individually.
